This book provides a sampler of the latest trends in Lorentzian Geometry and related fields. It covers topics such as submanifolds, symmetries, conformal methods, initial data, relations with other geometries, and applications to mathematical physics. These aspects, together with new and intriguing results, offer a representative snapshot of the latest research in this field. Lorentzian Geometry was initially the mathematical milestone forming the basis for General Relativity, and for many years, this was the dominant characteristic of this geometry. However, over the past few decades, Lorentzian Geometry has also become an important branch of Differential Geometry, which involves many mathematical techniques: Geometric Analysis, Functional Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Lie Groups and Lie Algebras... Fifteen years ago, several Spanish research groups interested in the area of Lorentzian Geometry and related mathematical topics launched the biennial meetings on Lorentzian Geometry in Benalmádena (Málaga). This first meeting in 2001 was characterized by a very friendly atmosphere, and set the stage for future meetings. In the eighth edition, celebrated in Málaga in September 2016, 80 researches hailing from more than 10 countries presented and discussed the latest advances in this field.
